Definition of network

A network is a group of devices, like computers, servers, and phones, connected to one another to allow the sharing of data.
An example of a network is the Internet, which connects millions of people all over the world.

A network is identified based on the following specific characteristics:
  1. Dimensions of the covered area
  2. Number of connected users
  3. Number and types of available services
  4. Area of responsibility
There are many types of network, like LAN (Local Area Network), WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network), PAN (Personal Area Network), MAN (Metropolitan Area Network), WAN (Wide Area Network), Peer-to-peer and Client server.
